The headlights of your F150 play a crucial role in illuminating the road ahead of you and ensuring a safe driving experience in various weather conditions such as fog, rain, and snow.
Headlight bulbs come in different sizes and types to suit different vehicles. In order to replace the headlight bulb in your F150, you will need to know what type of bulb is installed in your vehicle.
In this article, I am going to share the size of headlight bulbs for 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 model year F150 trucks.
What Type of Headlights Bulbs Does the F150 Have?
Before we get to the recommended light bulb size for your 7th Gen, F-150 let’s look at what type of headlights it has.
For the 2009-2014 year models, you have two options: HID or Halogen.
Halogen:
The halogen headlights are the standard headlights that come on your F150. They provide good visibility and perform well in most driving conditions.
HID:
High-Intensity Discharge headlight bulbs also known as Xenons are brighter than their halogen counterparts, they also have a longer lifespan and provide better visibility and reduce glare.
If you currently have Halogen headlights on your pickup you can use HID headlights with no modifications to your F-150(as long you use the right size).
Importance of Replacing Headlight Bulbs on your Ford F150
People often overlook the importance of replacing their headlight bulbs.
This may be due to the fact that it is not an expensive repair, or because many people don’t realize how important the proper functioning of headlights is.
Headlights are one of those things that people tend to forget about until they need them and then wonder what happened when they can’t see where they are going.
In short, if you don’t replace your headlight bulbs, you may not be able to see where you are going. Headlights are an essential part of driving at night.
They also help to illuminate the road ahead and make it easier for other drivers to see you.

If you are looking to equip your Pickup with HID lighting or upgrade its current lighting system to HID, you will require a D3S bulb.
You can conveniently get these bulbs from an auto parts shop or even your dealership.
The Ford F150 comes with a Dual Beam headlight system.
This type of headlight bulb serves a dual purpose, providing both low and high beams from a single bulb.
In contrast, a single-beam headlight bulb can only produce one type of beam, either low or high.
What is the Average Lifespan of F150 Headlight bulbs?
You may be wondering, how often you should replace your F150 HID bulbs.
