In this post, I will be talking about the differences between the Ford Fx4 and 4×4 vehicles. What exactly do these 2 entail and what are the benefits of each?

Main Differences Between Fx4 and 4×4

The Ford Fx4 is a more strictly defined version of the 4X4. The 4×4 is a more general term for a vehicle with four-wheel drive, and the FX4 is a specific package that includes off-road tires and suspension, as well as other goodies. It’s also worth noting that neither of these vehicles is available with all-wheel drive.

What is the Ford FX4 Package

The Ford FX4 Package is a special package that was designed for off-road use. It includes

  • A heavy-duty suspension
  • Special tires
  • A limited-slip differential
  • Rear-wheel drive (instead of 4×4)

The FX4 is a package on the F-150. It’s similar to the 4×4, but it has a few extra features that make it more performance-oriented. The FX4 is made for off-road use, so if you’re looking for something with better traction and handling in rugged terrain you might want to consider getting an FX4 instead of just going with a regular 4×4 pickup truck.

What the Fx4 Isn’t

It’s also not a 4×4, as the FX4 package is designed for use on dry and wet roads, not off-road terrain. And it’s not a special edition or limited edition; the new Ford F-150 was released in 2020 with the FX4 package as an option.

It’s also not a performance edition; you can’t get any of the performance features in this package (like adaptive suspension) without paying for them separately.

What Other FX4 Packages Are There?

As we mentioned earlier, the FX4 package is a special trim level that Ford offers on certain models of its F-Series line. But it’s not the only F-Series package you can get. In fact, there are several other options available to those who want their trucks to be more functional and more rugged than the base models.

The main difference between these packages and the FX4 is that they’re not always available with every model, while all FX4s come with their namesake features as standard equipment.

The FX2 Package comes with a different look than other Fords; it has dark gray bumpers instead of chrome ones and gets black grille bars instead of chrome ones too (although some models don’t have this option).

The bumpers are designed for offroading but still work well on city streets or highways; they help make your truck look tough while also protecting it from minor bumps in parking lots or during daily commutes. The black grille bars give your vehicle an imposing yet neutral appearance that doesn’t scream “look at me!” but might say something like “I’m here.”

What Are Ford 4×4 Trucks?

4×4 trucks, by contrast, are designed for off-road driving. They have a low-range transfer case, locking rear differential, and high ground clearance.

They also have larger tires than their 4×2 counterparts (though still not as large as those on the F-150 Raptor). These trucks are designed to go places even the most rugged of SUVs can’t handle.

The Ford F-150 Raptor comes with an impressive 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque from its twin turbos V8 engine—the same engine that powers the base Ford F150 pickup truck.

That’s enough power to tow up to 8200 lbs when properly equipped with towing equipment like a hitch ball receiver & wiring harness kit (which we recommend getting in order to avoid damaging your vehicle).

Final Thoughts

So, it seems that the Ford Fx4 is a more strictly defined version of the 4X4. It doesn’t offer the same level of off-road capability as its 4X4 counterpart but does come with some unique features that make it an interesting option for those who want a truck but don’t need the extreme off-road capability.

If you are looking to get a Ford truck and were wondering what the differences were between the fx4 and the 4×4, we hope that this article has given you a better understanding of the difference between them and can make a better-informed purchasing decision the next time you buy a Ford truck.
