The Ford F150 is America’s best-selling vehicle and its favorite pickup truck. Despite the dominance of the Ram 1500 these days, many first-time truck buyers do look into the F150.

But before heading to the dealership to buy one, it is imperative that one knows all about the truck’s trim levels. The following article contains the Ford F150 trim levels explained briefly.

The trim levels are the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited models. Let’s take a closer look at them below:

Ford F150 Trims Explained

The following are the highlights of each of the F150 trims explained:

F150 XL

We begin with the entry point to the F150 range, but there’s nothing primitive about what it offers. The F150 XL has an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, a single-zone aircon, and a backup camera as standard.

It also has many safety features, with one being pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking. This model has a starting price of $30,870, which is quite the bargain.

F150 XLT

Then we have the XLT, which doesn’t offer any extra standard features (apart from lane-keep assist) but it does increase the options list a bit. The optional goodies include comfort settings such as heated and powered seats, and safety equipment like rear cross-traffic alerts and blind-spot monitoring.

On the outside, it looks different due to its two-bar grille with chrome surrounds and its sporty alloy wheels. The F150 XLT starts at $38,515, which doesn’t really make a lot of sense.

F150 Lariat

The F150 Lariat may be the holy grail of the range of trims explained here. This offers many standard features such as a 12-inch infotainment screen, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, etc.

You get leather seats on it and the base engine is the very efficient Ford EcoBoost V6. The Lariat is priced at $48,450 and it is completely worth it.

F150 King Ranch

Apart from its cool name, the King Ranch is great for those looking for a comfort-oriented F150. The seats are heated and ventilated; push-button ignition, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and intelligent adaptive cruise control are available.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel is heated as well. The entire cabin is also made from luxurious materials. You get a premium sound system from Bang & Olufsen. As expected, the King Ranch trim is also priced high at $59,670.

F150 Platinum

We’re close to the top of the range and that’s exactly where you find this trim.

The F150 Platinum is a powerful, yet efficient truck with many safety features on it. Available is the Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 package which adds numerous drivers-assist systems to your truck.

It also comes with 20-inch Aluminum wheels and its pricing starts from $62,450.

F150 Limited

Finally, we get to the top of the range model, which adds a plethora of safety equipment to your F150. This includes forward and reverses sensing, a 360-degree camera, and a whole parking assist package.

You also get all the engine options available and a very cool dual-panel sunroof. Another highlight of this truck is the 22-inch aluminum wheels on it. The F150 Limited starts from a whopping $76,975.

Special Editions of the Ford F150

Let’s look at some one-off versions of the F150 now. The ones for the current model are mentioned below:

F150 Tremor

The Tremor package is an off-road-oriented variant of the F150. It comes with special shocks that are tuned for offroading purposes. It is equipped with chunky 33-inch offroad tires as well, which contain 18-inch matte aluminum wheels. It costs $53,470, but what if you want something with a greater offroading capability?

F150 Raptor

You’d pick the Ford F150 Raptor then – a truck with a reputation for high offroading performances. This high-end sports pickup is tuned to take you over any sort of terrain that you may encounter.

Apart from its special components, it is also one of the most powerful trucks today. As a truck with a badge that is unmatched, the Raptor is pricey at its $69,905 starting price.

F150 Lightning

This truck’s a new one and it is currently overbooked. The Ford Lightning is an all-electric version of the F150. It has been recently unveiled and Ford had to postpone its sales due to too many orders.

The Lightning is super powerful and is the most efficient F150 ever. While it is not for sale right now due to its high demand, the Lightning was priced from $39,974.

Which F150 Trim Level is Better?

According to Car and Driver, the best F150 trim is the Lariat. This is because of its price and the set of amenities that you can get for it. It is the best balance as far as value is concerned.

What F-150 is the highest trim level?

The highest trim level on the F150 is the Limited. Its starting price is $76,975 for which you get most of the truck’s features as standard.

Is Platinum higher than King Ranch?

Yes, the Platinum model is a step above the King Ranch. It has more safety features and larger wheels. The price difference between the two isn’t much though.
