Look in the city streets or on the highway, you will come across an F150 with a unique aesthetic. I looked at this mean machine and found out it was part of the Ford package called the STX. What does STX mean on Ford the F150?

What does STX mean on Ford F150?

The STX stands for Sport Truck Extreme or the Sports Truck Extra. This means the truck you have has top-of-line features. It looks impressive inside and out and is adorned with special upholstery, and has upgraded to peak performance and styling.

Turned into an appearance package after it was discontinued in 2016, the STX is the repurposing of what used to be one of Ford’s trims. Now, it has become a look that can be added to the F150 and the F250. The available models all have something about them that makes their particular STX unique.

STX means that you will deck out your Ford truck with high-end features that will make it stand out inside and out.

STX stands for a greater aesthetic and functionality on a Ford truck, which includes anything from custom upholstery to a more aggressive grille.

But, of course, when you buy a Ford truck, your features depend on the model you choose. The STX provides several performance options. You may pick between the 3.3-liter V6, 5.0 Liter V8, 2.7 EcoBoost, or the renowned 3.5 EcoBoost if you want to build on the Maximum Trailer Tow Package to haul 13,200 lbs.

What is the Ford STX Appearance Package?

The Ford STX Appearance Package will transform your ride with a sporty features addition and strong external design.

Ford truck enthusiasts may recall when the company provided an “STX” trim level for its vehicles. Unfortunately, it was no longer available as of 2016.

However, you can purchase it as an appearance package. Sports Truck Extra or Sports Truck Extreme, Ford’s STX stands for either. Ford’s STX boasts a unique front design.

The body-color honeycomb grille replaced the XL’s black 2-bar grille. To further boost the truck’s appearance, the lower bumper has been painted to suit and incorporates fog lamps.

A center console and a black sports fabric seat are on the inside, reducing the seating capacity from 6 to 5. Despite the lack of an up-close and personal occupant, the big central compartment and several drink holders make up for it.

The truck’s beauty and technology make it worth every cent. Sync 3 is standard. The Ford’s 8″ touchscreen, which can be controlled by touch or voice, fits smoothly in the dash.

Unfortunately, some manufacturers only provide Apple Car Play or Android Auto. Also, the STX features two smart and sophisticated USB ports that let you charge your smartphone while using applications like Pandora, Waze, Spotify, or listening to your favorite show.

What Trim Levels and Options Are There?

The F150 trim levels stay in place, except for the minor adjustments outlined in the preceding section. So there is still a lot to pick from.

Three cab configurations (Supercab, regular, or crew) and two engine choices are available throughout the six trim levels (XL; Lariat; XLT; Lariat; Ranch; Platinum; and Limited) (6.2-liter Two-Valve Gas V8 FFV or 6.7-liter V8 Turbo Diesel).

If you had to figure out how many possibilities there are, it would have taken you a while. Finally, your dream Ford F-450 is within reach with a broad range of customization options.

Unfortunately, the Ford F-450 isn’t getting any major upgrades in 2022. However, continuing the course is a logical solution for a truck as ferocious as this one. We’re certain that you’ll discover a vehicle that suits your needs thanks to various alternatives.

The STX vs the XLT Differences

While the XLT is a trim level above the XL, the STX is an appearance package that is added to the F150 and F250. As an example to clarify the point here is a comparison of the F150 STX and the XLT.

Ford stopped offering the STX package as a sporty addition in 2015 but then brought it back in 2017 after making it strictly an appearance package.

The options you are presented with now for the STX style truck are: Machined aluminum rims, Flash grey painted pockets, Body-color bumpers, Halogen fog lamps, Privacy glass, and Nostrils with a black mesh. Compared to trim for the same model.

The XLT style is the most feature-rich style you can find, usually referred to as the luxury package. While it has everything the STX has, with respect to function, it can also be outfitted with a keyless entry keypad, automatic headlights, Bluetooth connectivity, rear privacy glass, and fog lights.

Visually you are looking at the same thing except it comes with chrome detailing already installed, whereas the STX was an added option. The two are just superficial enhancements but the base performance of the vehicle remains unchanged overall.

Is the Ford STX Truck Worth It?

The STX is an excellent truck for the price and well worth every penny. The XLT trim is pricier, but it’s worth a look if you’re giving up power-adjustable seats. A big thumbs up for the STX. A Ford STX truck appearance package is the way to go if you want a truck that stands out from the crowd. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries regarding what a Ford STX is or how to obtain one.

Final Words

The STX is a package added to specific models of the F150 and F250 to enhance their appearance and also the user experience with them.

Unlike the XL and XLT that are still trimmed for Ford models, the STX is just relegated to a specific class of vehicles and still has popularity because of how the sporty look improves on the standard look of the car.

For some models of the Ford F150 with the STX tag, they possess the SYNC. This SYNC uses Bluetooth wireless technology to pass information between your vehicle and your phone.

Is in many ways similar to Infotainment 3  Like a universal remote control, SYNC controls other systems besides your phone and other portable devices to simplify media control, even the navigation system.
